Dr. Rogerio "Roger" Lima received a B.S. in Physics (1992) and a M.S. in Materials Science (1995) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil . He worked two years (1996-1997) as a materials science lecturer at the same institution. From 1998 to 2001 he carried out his Ph.D. studies on Materials Engineering at the State University of New York at Stony Brook (USA), under the mentoring of Prof. Chris Berndt.
After obtaining his Ph.D., Dr. Lima joined the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) in 2001 as a Research Associate. He was promoted to the rank of Assistant Research Officer and Associate Research Officer in 2004 and 2008, respectively, and was awarded permanent
position at the NRC in 2006. He was appointed as a Senior Research Officer of the NRC in 2015.
Dr. Lima has authored/co-authored 65refereed (peer-reviewed) journal papers and 63 conference papers. His papers have been cited more than 2500 times by other authors and his h-index is 29 (source: Scopus – October 25, 2019). He has also received several awards of excellence
Dr. Lima has given 22 invited talks in North & South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. He serves as a referee for 3 international materials science journals.
He is the Editor/Co-Editor of 5 Proceedings of the International Thermal Spray Conference (ITSC) and Co-Editor for the 9 special editions of the Journal of Thermal Spray Technology.
Dr. Lima's main research interest is the R&D of thermal spray coatings for aerospace gas turbines.
